“Life’s Stories”

After reading Julia Becks “Life Stories” I thought she did a really good job laying out her piece. Everything she wrote made sense to me, and I agree with what she has to say as well. One part that stood out to me was the beginning. She starts it out with a part from a book, and the person say that he didmd expect his life to turn out what it was. That made me wonder why she would use that, as well as feel sad for the person quoted. Another part that stood out was when she said that people view their life in a story. When she first said that I was confused, but the more I read it made sense. People have little pieces of their story that add up. Another part that stood out to me was when she said people “contain multitudes”, again I was confused what that meant. But the more I read, I found out that she meant they are small Libra’s we keep in our head. It stood out to me because I agree with that, and I find myself having those little stories in my head, just like a library. Overall she did a great job, and I agree with her points.

  • You are doing a good job with your annotations. They look good! I’m glad that you continue to press on despite occasional confusion. I encourage you to look James Joyce up (I noticed your marginal note). A quick Wiki scan might clear up her important point.
