Using outside sources in an essay make your paper stronger, because its backed up by evidence, which makes it more reliable. In my paper I use quotes throughout the whole thing. For example how I use one quote, I introduce the person saying bit “As a metaphor designer, Michael Erard puts it,” And then I state the quote “Break the thing you want to explain into its components, then connect them into some other idea”(Erard). By introducing the quote I can explain why this quote is important and valid. My reason for this quote is the person who I’m quoting is a metaphor designer, and my paper is about the importance of metaphors. After that, elaborating on the quote is very important so you can explain it, and go into depth more about it. For this quote I elaborated by saying “And how they can change peoples minds, as well as open them to new ideas”. Elaborating even a sentence makes the quote stronger, by putting your own idea after the evidence of the quote.
Throughout my whole paper I use quotes as evidence to make my paper stronger. Using quotes is an easy way to create a well balanced paper. Quotes allow me to state evidence, and sup[port my claims throughout my essay.
