Annotating comes pretty easy to me. I just write down my thoughts as I’m going through a paper as thoughts come up. Ive been doing well with my annotation goals. Ive made a lot more text-self, text-world, and text-text connections. Ive also been looking up words I don’t know to get a better understanding.

  1. Surrounding context– Was first published on the World-post, The author is Yo-Yo Ma, The author Yo-Yo Ma is a very accomplished man. He began preforming at only five years of age. He’s won over seventeen Grammys, and has received many awards and prizes. He is also a Harvard graduate.
  2. Circumstantial context– Our teacher assigned us to read the text to help us with a future assignment. Im reading the essay because it was assigned, and it was a good piece overall.
  3. intentional context– The rhetorical situation is to teach those who are unfamiliar with the education system. The scope of this piece is that arts, and empathy are very important to education, and many school systems fail to teach them.
